Easy DIY Polaroid Magnets

So I just recently found The Sorry Girls and I can't believe I haven't seen them before. They are incredibly talented and so original. I've gotten a lot of inspiration from their YouTube channel lately, and this post is one of them.

I love the look of polaroid photos, but I am too indecisive to be locked down to one picture; it usually takes me at least 10 tries to get a picture I like.

I downloaded the Poladroid app for my computer, and popped a couple of photos into it. The app is super cute and makes sound effects so it sounds like a camera. You can take any picture and it turns it into a Polaroid.

I find a lot of coupon codes for free 8x10 photos from Walgreens, so I picked 4 photos, used PicMonkey to make a collage and sent it to be printed, all fo free. Muahahah

When I picked the photo up I used my paper cutter to slice them up and glued them to a leftover piece of foam board.

I started to use a utility knife to try to cut through the foam board, but I found that scissors are easier to control and make for less ripping. I then used some old random magnets to hot glue to the back. This is perfect for those random magnets you have but don't really want or need.

That's it! Send me your pictures on Instagram with the #LittleBitsofLacey. I want to start featuring your photos on my Instagram page!

DIY Pillow from Sweater || Valentines Day Pillow

I got this sweater a year or two ago from the Target clearance rack, but I didn't have the intention of wearing it. It fit weird. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE the pattern. I picked up a plain pillow case and pillow and did exactly what any lazy, non-talented sewers like myself would do. :)

I traced around it on the sweater and cut it out. Then I hot glued the edges right around the back of the pillow.

Isn't it precious? I was thinking this would be Valentine's Day decor but now I'm convinced it will stick around all year long!

Show me yours! #LittleBitsofLacey

Simple & Classy Fall Decor on a Budget

So like just about everyone else, fall is my favorite season. And winter. Basically September through December is the best. Anywho, I wanted to share the simple touches I added to my room. I really tried to keep things blending in with my decor I already had.

This is the top of my dresser. Far left we have Juan, my plant who just celebrated his 1st birthday. I've never kept a plant alive this long so congratulations Juan. Next I picked up this cute little crate/tray from the Target dollar spot for $3 and put the two Dollar Tree bottles I already had in it. My alarm clock and my lamp are from Walmart. The Boo sign is also from the Target dollar spot and the gold pumpkin was a Dollar Tree find last year that I just gave a quick coat of gold spray paint.

This is the ladder shelf I have in the corner of my room. On top I have a paper mache letter "L" spray painted gold, and an Ikea plant and pot.
Second shelf down houses the orange glitter pumpkin was snagged after season last year from Kmart for something like $0.96 :o and the silver is from the Target Dollar Spot.
Next is a little apothecary jar I got from Goodwill filled with gold acorns also from the Dollar Spot. Beside that are two little elephants I spray painted silver and gold too. The "All you need is love and a cat" candle thing was a gift.
Next down I have my DIY coffee table books and a candle holder and candle.
On the bottom shelf I have a DIY mirrored box (DIY to come) and a cloche with some fake flowers sitting on a book.

So there are my simple touches for now. I may end up adding more but I like how it's turned out so far!

I'd love to see yours so tag me on Instagram! @LittleBitsofLacey #LittleBitsofLacey

DIY Push Pin Art | A "Bow-tiful" Piece

So if you haven't seen push pin art by now, have you been on Pinterest?

My favorites are by LiveLoveDIY and life in velvet.

SO of course, I had to make my own! (Laws of Pinterest)

All you need is a canvas and push pins. My canvas is 8 x 10 and I got my gold push pins from Dollar Tree. I haven't seen them recently though, so if you don't have luck try these. (affiliate links)

I printed out a bow (you can really use any shape!) and cut it out. I made sure that the bow would fit in the space inside the wood frame, because my lack of strength is incapable of sticking lots of push pins into the wood.

I traced the bow, then added the gold push pins. I just did the outline and center knot of the bow. Partially out of laziness. Partially because I was running out of pins. AND partially because I really like it this way!

What do you think? What shape will you make? :) Show me! #LittleBitsofLacey

Hope you liked!

DIY "It's Okay" Watercolor Art

I love, love, love pastel colors and simple reminders that life is great. So I made this cute little wall art.

This post contains Amazon Affiliate Links.

I just used a thin canvas, a water color paint set from Dollar Tree, and black acrylic paint. I like the thin canvas on a board because they're cheaper and they sit more flush to the wall, which I needed since I was putting this on the back of my bedroom door.

Outside to keep the mess at a minimum (I still ended up with spotted legs), I painted a rainbow, slightly overlapping each color. I used Roy G. Biv. :) Something I learned in elementary school! I did a couple of coats to get the look I wanted. Since the watercolors were from Dollar Tree, they would sometimes leave little chunks of color, but they come off easily with water.

After I had a pretty rainbow, I printed off the saying "It's okay." in the font Arial. You could use any phrase you want though! Like "Breathe" "Be happy" or "I love pizza"

I shaded all behind the words on the back of the sheet with a pencil, then placed the paper where I wanted it on the canvas. Also an important step is realizing it's 5:30 then panicking because you work at 6. I used a sharp pencil to outline the letters, which transferred the outline of the letters onto the canvas. It's hard to see in the picture but I swear it's there. Once I had all of the outlines done, I just filled them in with paint!

I attached it to the back of my door with Command Strips under my "Smile" banner I picked up from the dollar spot at Target for $3.

I just love this little positive spot on my door and LOVE pastels.

Let's see yours! #LittleBitsofLacey

Happy Monday!

Ikea Obsession || Top 11 Ikea Products

This past week Eric and I took a mini vacation to Kansas City. We spent a day at the zoo and a day at Worlds of Fun/Oceans of Fun and we had a lot of fun.

And I also forced Eric to take me to the Ikea in Merriam.

Poor, poor boy.

There's just something about Ikea that makes me super, super happy inside. But it is also super overwhelming, especially since I still live in a small bedroom in my parents house. It's hard to walk away from cute kitchen items because I don't even have a kitchen.

I've decided to break it down into the products I loved and purchased. So here are my top 11 Ikea products.

If you don't live near an Ikea (like me) and you want furniture it will cost an arm and a leg to get it shipped. I've found links for these products on Amazon, and they cost quite a bit more, but it's still less than getting them shipped from Ikea. SO I'll include both links if you're interested in ordering and you can figure out what is the best way to do it. I think it's best if you can get it from the store, but you gotta do what you gotta do. The Amazon links are affiliated links, so if you want more information on that, refer to my disclosure.

1. The Alex drawers

I bought two of these to use as part of my desk, something there will be a post in the near future about, and I love them. They are so versatile because I can picture storing anything in them. They are very popular for makeup storage use, but I think they're awesome for desks, craft supplies, maybe even for classrooms. I also love that you can get the 9 drawer one also.

2. Linnmon top

I added this on here because I bought it to top my desk. It's super light weight and goes perfectly with the Alex drawers.

3. Lack table

These little side tables are honestly just cute. They are again super light and versatile. I bought mine so I can move it around the house wherever the light is right for blog photos. If I had a lot of room I'd buy them in lots of different colors for this purpose. But again, I live in a little room at my parents.

4. The Pröjs desk pad (it's clear)

Ikea Link ||| Amazon Link (Not Ikea version, similar clear mat)

I like this because it is HUGE and protects the most used part of my new desk. I'm thinking of adding some cute paper to make it pretty, but I'm not quite sure yet.

5. Liksidig Napkin Holder

Ikea Link ||| Amazon Link

I use this as a catch all for papers and things I need to handle. Not for napkins.

6. Fejka Artificial Plant (thyme)

Ikea Link ||| Amazon Link

This is so cute in #7.

7. Skurar pot

8. Bräda Laptop Support

I got this to keep my laptop from overheating when I use it on my lap or the couch.

9. Tejn Faux Sheepskin

Ikea Link ||| Amazon Link

These are nice right now for my obsession with white furry things. I have big plans for a few of these.

10. Godmorgon Acrylic Organizers

My favorite drawer organizers.

11. Kassett Boxes & Magazine Holders

I can't find these on Ikea's website anymore?? ||| Amazon Magazine Holders

I love these on my craft shelf, and these are what I used to make my Kate Spade inspired boxes

And that's all I've been lovin for right now. I'm sure the list will grow when I get an apartment or house.

What are your favorite Ikea products?
